Carry On

Hey guys! Sorry it's been a while, I've been busy with university stuff... turns out, they cancelled the program I had applied to... there goes plan A... in the middle of March... after all the deadlines for other programs have past. But I will carry on! They gave me about a week to decide on another program and write an application essay. Talk about short notice! I've applied to an X-ray program they have. I'm not sure if I'm sold on it exactly, but I'm definitely interested. I'll let you know how it goes! :)

New lens! Nikon 50mm f/1.8g on my D5100. I also made a DIY reflector + stand to go along! I plan to do some reviewing/sample pictures for the lens and a tutorial for the reflectors. I don't know if that interests you guys at all, but I'll post a link to the vids when they're up! :)

Bleached Love

 Happy Valentine's Day!

[LookBook Post]

This is my Valentine's Day inspired outfit! The necklace was a gift that I received from my close friend after her visit to Turkey. It was a number of years ago, and now whenever I wear it, she suggests cutting off the girl's ponytail and skirt. ;)

If anyone is wondering how I did the levitation shots, I cheated a little bit. :P If you want a tutorial on it, let me know and I'll do up a video next time I shoot a floating pose. I was going to explain it in words, but it's a bit difficult without some sort of visual.

Same goes for the shirt and jeans, which are both DIYs. I can video tutorials for those as well. Although, I just used bleach. I'm sure what I did is pretty obvious. :)

I hope all the couples, singles and in-betweens out there have a wonderful Valentine's day!

Take care guys,
Colin :)

Things Are Looking Up

Hey guys!
Rockin' my new cardigan! :) I'm obsessed with cardigans now....

[LookBook Post]

Aaaaand, if you're curious about how I got these shots...

I just used a cheap, lightweight aluminum tripod so that I don't rip my ceiling down. There was a little hook on the bottom of the centre beam of the tripod that I hooked to a hook in my ceiling. There wasn't enough space so I used an S hook to add a bit of room. Then I extended the legs up to the ceiling to balance the tripod and stop it from swaying. The sheet in the background was to reflect some of the window light onto my face, but also to get rid of the greenish hue my walls were casting. I used a wireless remote to get my shots. :)

I actually got the cardigan from Forever 21 for $6.00, regular $30! I feel pretty awesome about that. :) Hahaha. Ya just gotta keep checking the clearance areas!!

Take care guys!
Colin :)

Contrast Tie

Hey guys!
We have a somewhat collegiate looking outfit today! I really like the play of colours between the jeans and the tie.

[LookBook Post]

Comment below with suggestions for Youtube videos! I've got a number of necklace ideas together, so that one will be coming up soon. I was also thinking I could do some different hair styling tutorials and such. What do you think!?

Take care guys!

Olive Triangles

Hey guys!
I have another tribal print inspired look up today! Again, this one uses the concept rather subtly... I almost wish I had've done a series.

[LookBook Post]

Hahaha. I'm not sure if I should post that last one or not. :P

The sweater is another DIY. I used bits from another sweater to make-over this one. There wasn't any real reason for it. The sweater is relatively new, I just thought it could be spiced up a bit. I also used the opportunity to cover up the little American Eagle logo embroidered on the chest. I don't know what it is about logos, but they really bother me now. It's almost as if it's not enough for us to buy their product, we also need to use our bodies as advertising billboards. I understand if it's a graphic T or something, but to stick a little eagle on every single item... I think that's a bit extensive.

Anyway! I hope everyone is doing well! The weather here has been beautifully mild for January in Canada, so I'm very happy about that. Apparently we're in for another coating of snow in a couple of days though! I will be digging out the cozy sweaters!

Take care everyone,
Colin

Cardigan-H&M || V-neck-H&M ||Jeans-H&M || Necklace-DIY || Boots-Call It Spring

I had a request on my haul video to do a video tutorial on different DIY necklaces, but I'm still coming up with some different ideas to incorporate. I plan to do the video eventually though, so stay tuned for that!

I hope everyone is having a lovely start to 2013!

Take care,
Colin
